Soul Care was Airplane Mode
The Perfect storm happened this week.
End of month is always a little more hectic.
Hurricane Ida partially displaced me, Randy and all of my New Orleans family. It was hectic and stressful. Our New Orleans family is still waiting on power to be restored to return home.
All of that was easy compared to the pivotal and crucial decision that needed all energy, time, emotional resources and more.4 days felt like a month and by Friday morning, all of the stress caught up with me.
I was emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted. I knew self-care was crucial or I was about to shut down. I was completely depleted.
Y’all know that, “I just need an UGLY cry and no one around me to see or imma lose my mind.”
As women, sometimes we have a tendency to push through, like a good soldier. But sweet friends, there are times when you should not. This is beyond regular self-care, it is soul-care. As your friend and health coach, Here are 3 steps you can take to practice “Soul Care”.
ASK FOR HELP:
I reached out for help. I let my family know I was fine, but needed to take some time for me.
I alerted my business partners to cover for me.
SAY NO :
I canceled engagements & meetings that were planned for Friday. I could not “fake” a smile. I canceled an impending Abs & Booty 30 Day challenge I was going to launch over weekend.
I did not post on social media or in my stories. The ever elusive algorithm can kiss my butt.
I also did not feel the need to respond to text, DMs, and emails. Making that space for airplane mode was crucial.
SAY YES TO YOUR SOUL:
What Brings you back into alignment? I rested. I moved my body gently. I stayed in nature. I was quiet. I prayed. I journaled. I reflected on the week and acknowledged my feelings.
When “perfect storms” hit you, please prioritize and honor YOU!
