Hustle versus Surrender
Every entrepreneur knows this struggle is real.
Each year, I take time to take to reassess the previous year and make goals that align with my life’s prioritizes.
Being a typical strong willed type A, I struggle with my self-Imposed busy schedule. I seemingly have a gift of piling on any and everything into my calendar in any spare nook or cranny.
I have made some strides over the last 2 years in time management and priority based living. I even teach some techniques for this in my health coaching practice. But at the end of the year, I am still feeling hurried and emotionally exhausted.
Is me being “busy” a spiritual issue? Am I too busy to love and serve others the way Christ wants me to? How can I love God and others when I am emotionally exhausted? How can I invest into my important relationships with limited relational time?
Jesus never seemed in a rush, he lingered to speak with the woman at the well, He had time for dinner with the the despised tax collector and withdrew from the crowds to seek solitude with God.
My 2021 Word is UNHURRIED. I am putting it here for accountability.
- I will unplug more and stop working so much.
- I will disconnect from devices to connect more deeply with my people.
- I will learn to just “be”.
- I’m committing to being fully present, truly listening and paying attention.
A close family member has a recent and serious diagnosis that will soon decline their quality of health dramatically. This year, I will invest time and energy to create to create space to have special memories that we both can cherish for a lifetime.
Unhurried.
If you refuse to let hurry, hustle and striving rob you of the most precious gifts in life…
If you have been feeling emotionally exhausted too…
I invite you to slow down with me and travel the path “unhurried.”
